The QC Persons with Disability Affairs Office (QC PDAO) has reported that at least 20 percent of the PWDs given employment referrals by the city government, are now gainfully employed in retail stores, food chains, BPOs and government agencies.

One of them is Kaypee Villaruel, born with foot abnormalities but was hired on the spot as an office worker by a security and detective agency.
Villaruel, an accountancy graduate and resident of Viewriver in Barangay Batasan Hills, was among the more than 300 PWDs provided referrals for employment by the QC government. The city government has been implementing the referral program in cooperation with partner agencies, both private and government since 2015.
This year, PDAO has endorsed at least 11 walk-in PWD clients to various partner agencies.
Partner agencies include PLDT, Smart Jollibee, Bench, Fruitas Group of Companies, Microtel, SM, McDonalds, Unilab Foundation, Manulife and CDO, for the private sector;   and the Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Metro Manila Development Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, for the government sector.
The QC Government continues with its efforts to mainstream persons with disabilities in all government programs and build an inclusive workforce for all.
Aside from this, the city government also refers PWDs for training at the National Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Barangay Escopa.
In addition, the city government also distributes assistive devices to PWDs, which include personal energy transport, hearing aids, customized wheelchair for cerebral palsy, prosthesis, regular wheelchairs as well as medical assistance, among others.
Following the passage of an ordinance mandating the  provision of a one percent budget allocation for programs and projects that will benefit PWDs, Mayor Bautista has unveiled plans for the adoption of a comprehensive development program for all PWDs in the city.
Currently, there are about 39,744 registered PWDs in Quezon City, according to QC-PDAO.
