HELP US REACH 1 MILLION SIGNATURES! JOIN THE “SAY NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN” 1-MILLION SIGNATURES CAMPAIGN A movement to collect 1 million signatures for the “Say No to Violence Against Women” Campaign was launched by Mayor Feliciano Belmonte during the Women’s Month Celebration at the City Hall held last March. The Mayor addressed the crowd with a call to unite and build awareness on the situation of women and other sectors in need. The speech was made before a convergence of civil society leaders, foreign guests, teachers, city lawyers and other key personalities led by Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez, Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) National Coordinator Luz Rodriguez, QC Ladies Foundation Joy Belmonte-Alimurung, the Center’s Gender and Development (GAD) Council, and department heads from various local and civil society groups. The signature campaign launches the city’s call for a united stand against all forms of violence, especially against women and children. This is in line with the City’s strong advocacy for gender equality, being the first city in the NCR to pass a reproductive health code and to institutionalize measures to protect their rights and well-being. WHO CAN SIGN? Male and female residents, private/public office/company owners/employees, members of NGOs, students, clients and visitors are encouraged to all be part of this endeavor. Friends and family members regardless of residence/work are more than welcome to participate, provided they are 13 years old and above. HOW DO I SIGN UP? Signature sheets are available at QC barangays, offices and schools. You may also avail of specific number of sheets from the QC GAD-RCO located at the QC Hall Compound.
