The QC Scholarship and Youth Development Program expects to have more scholars for the next school year after the screening of indigent applicants who are qualified to pursue post-graduate studies.
A screening committee was formed to select those who shall qualify as beneficiaries of the city’s scholarship program for masteral and doctorate degrees.
The city government's scholarship benefit is P70,000 per year for tuition fees per beneficiary.
According to SYDP head Rogelio R. Reyes, the postgraduate program is in compliance with Ordinance no. SP. 2165, S-2012 that mandates the creation of the city’s post-graduate scholarship program to help deserving students who are QC residents to pursue further studies to enhance their knowledge and make them more effective partners in city building efforts.
In addition to the current 9,005 regular scholars from the city’s 46 public high schools, the SYDP is looking forward to admitting 50 postgraduate scholars this coming school year. More than 5,500 of the undergraduate scholars are now enrolled at the Quezon City Polytechnic University (QCPU).
