New police station to rise in Quezon City

The Fairview police station in Quezon City is getting a much-needed facelift with the construction of a new station to replace the old one along Commonwealth Avenue.

Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said the cost of building the two-story police headquarters on Pearl Street has been estimated at P38 million.

“This highlights the city government’s continuing efforts to spread the gains of Quezon City’s development to fast-growing communities where police visibility is much needed,” he said in a statement.

Belmonte added that the city engineering department will also inaugurate the new police headquarters in March this year.

Among the barangays under the jurisdiction of the Fairview police station are Sta. Lucia, Fairview, Kaligayahan, Greater Lagro, Pasong Putik and North Fairview .

The new Fairview police station is the fourth built by the Quezon City government; the others are in Masambong, Novaliches and Batasan.

Belmonte has pressed for the construction of additional police stations in his effort to address street crimes, which he pointed out, usually affect ordinary people.

“The construction of more police stations, especially in the city’s crowded communities, also aims to level the police-population ratio in Quezon City,” the mayor added.

The city government is also planning to buy more patrol vehicles, communication equipment, firearms and ammunition to help strengthen the peacekeeping efforts of the Quezon City Police District.
