QC cops give to kids with cancer
THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Saturday donated P50,000 to StepJuan, the walk for a cause through Luzon for the benefit of cancer-stricken children.
Philippine National Police Director General Jesus Verzosa and QCPD director Chief Supt. Elmo San Diego personally handed over the cash to Tomas Leonor, the artist and activist who is the prime mover of StepJuan which is raising funds in support of the Cancer Warriors Foundation.
The money, donated by the 2,700 QCPD personnel, was turned over to Leonor during the department’s regular Saturday inspection.
Leonor began his walk in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, on Jan. 11. He hopes to end it in Matnog, Sorsogon.
Early in the walk, Leonor suffered a sprain but eventually recovered to resume his trek after resting for one day.
The walk will have Leonor traverse 33 cities and 150 towns of Luzon. Supporters join him on each leg.
