QC, group of lawyers renew ties

The renewal of ties between the Quezon City government and the Federacion Internacional de Abogadas (FIDA) highlighted the kick-off ceremony of the city’s celebration of Women’s Month Monday.

Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said the renewed tie-up is in response to the group’s preference to provide free legal services to the city’s less fortunate especially in gender-related cases.

He said the city government will continue to rid the locality of racial or gender biases, stressing the important role women play in nation building.

“I am proud of all our women in Quezon City. Your city government will be working continuously to improve their economic status and shall remain ahead of other local government units in this effort,’’ Belmonte said.

Launched two years ago, Belmonte and FIDA president Elizabeth Padron signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to facilitate the continuous implementation of the program.
