|148th Birth Anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio|
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte is joined by Philippine National Police Director Gen. Nicanor Bartolome in the singing of the national anthem as Quezon City joins the nation in the commemoration of the 148th birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio at the Bonifacio shrine in Balintawak (Cloverleaf). In his speech, Bartolome called on the national police force, whom he described as “the new breed of Katipuneros,” to unite and work together for the preservation of the idealism espoused by Andres Bonifacio, who has been regarded as the greatest hero of the 1896 Philippine Revolution. Descendants of Andres Bonifacio, Marcela Bonifacio, a retired schoolteacher (second from left), and her daughter, P/Sr. Inspector Andrea Mae, of the PNP Crime Laboratory, also attended the QC commemorative rites, which was highlighted by a wreath-laying ceremony jointly undertaken by the QC government and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). The commission was represented during the occasion by Archt. Reynaldo Inovero, chief of the historic preservation division.
