Exchange Student Program Between Quezon City and Seogu District, Daegu Metropolitan City

City Officials of the Seogu District, Daegu Metropolitan City of the Republic of Korea met with Quezon City officials last June 13, 2012 to discuss the planning of the Exchange Student Program between the two metropolises. The program aims to give their respective students an in-depth exposure on the culture and values of other countries.

Shin Si Gyun – Chief of Planning, Kim Cheon Ho – Chief Education Plan, and Han Mi Hyang – Education officer composed the Seogu delegation. They were welcomed by QC Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, Chief of Staff Cdr. Aldrin Cuña and Ms. Regina Samson, Communications Coordination Center Head, who represented Mayor Herbert Bautista to plan the details of the said program.

The initial conclusion of the planning sets the first wave of the program wherein 20-30 Korean students will be having a six-day visit in Quezon city on October, in time for the city's Foundation month celebration. The students composed of Middle School children aged 11-15 years old, will do a "home stay" set-up in selected QC abodes to be authentically acquainted with the Filipino culture. They will also get a tour around Quezon City to get an overall view of the metropolis.

Kang Seong Ho, the mayor of Seogu District, Daegu Metropolitan City, is also expected to visit Quezon City along with the student delegates.

Likewise, a delegation of Quezon City public high school students are scheduled to visit Seogu by April 2013 to gain the same cultural exposure as their Korean counterparts.

The meeting of the officials ended with gift exchanges to symbolize the start of the anticipated long-term partnership between the two cities.
