Quezon City Authorizes Residents' Calamity Loan Applications
Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has signed into law an ordinance authorizing civilian government employees in QC to apply for calamity loans if they were affected by the monsoon rains and floods last August 6 to 10.

Under Ordinance No. SP 2162 S-2012, only civilian government employees who were bonafide and registered residents of Quezon City during the period from August 6 to 10 this year are authorized to access and apply for the grant of calamity loan in accordance with established eligibility and qualification requirements prescribed by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Home Development Mutual Fund (PAGIBIG) and other government and private insurance and lending agencies.

The ordinance was unanimously approved in the city council last August 22.

It was pointed out by the city council that the destruction to property and the loss of life caused by the monsoon rains and floods in many flood-prone areas near or along rivers and waterways justify the grant of calamity loans that will help government employees recover from their losses.
