Quezon City Affirms, Expands Ties with Shenyang Featured

Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista and Chairman Pan Liguo of the Municipal Congress of Shenyang City renewed the sister city ties between Quezon City and Shenyang, China.  The relations between the two cities were forged in 1993.

Mayor Bautista warmly welcomed the Shenyang delegation consisting of its top officials and businessmen, presenting to the Chairman, the key to the city.  He said that it was time to elevate the cultural ties between the two cities into an economic partnership, encouraging the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Quezon City to actively engage in talks on business opportunities with their counterparts in Shenyang.  He shared that, during his tenure as mayor, Quezon City has initiated a number of reforms to welcome more businesses into the city, especially since it has been chosen as the benchmark for the Philippines in the implementation of the National Government’s new law on ease of doing business.

Chairman Liguo agreed on expanding ties.  He said that this reaffirmation comes at a time when the relations between the Philippines and China was at a bustling stage, brimming with opportunities for investment cooperation.  Shenyang, he shared, is a manufacturing base of China, especially for automotive, aircraft, machinery and tools production.  It is also an emerging center for artificial intelligence, robotics, telecommunications and other technology-driven industries, as well as the base for the development of Big Data.

Chairman Liguo invited Quezon City officials and businessmen to visit Shenyang to further the productive talks, which he said, can go beyond trade and commerce, to also encompass opportunities for cooperative arrangements in education, technology, and human resource training.
